Discover the incredible landscape of the Rainbow Mountain in Cusco (Vinicunca)! This mountain is located in the Andes region of Perú, near the city of Cusco, and is famous for its stunning views and landscapes, known as the Rainbow Mountain or Montaña Vinicunca

Day 1: Cusco – Cusipata – Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) – Cusco

Your Rainbow Mountain Tour Full Day begins early in the morning with hotel pickup in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. Our professional guide and comfortable tourist transportation will take you through the scenic South Valley of Cusco, passing traditional Andean villages, agricultural fields, and breathtaking mountain landscapes.

After approximately two hours of travel, we arrive at the village of Cusipata, where you will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast. This is the perfect opportunity to recharge before beginning the adventure while admiring the beautiful surroundings of the Peruvian Andes.

Following breakfast, we continue by vehicle for about one more hour to the trailhead at Phulawasipata (approximately 4,630 m / 15,190 ft). Here, your guide will provide a safety briefing, explain the route, and offer recommendations for hiking at high altitude.

The hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your walking pace. Along the trail, you will be surrounded by spectacular Andean scenery, snow-capped peaks, colorful valleys, crystal-clear streams, and herds of llamas and alpacas grazing freely. The majestic Ausangate Mountain (6,384 m / 20,945 ft), considered one of the most sacred mountains in the Andean world, dominates the landscape throughout the journey.

Upon reaching the summit of Rainbow Mountain at 5,200 meters (17,060 ft), you will have ample time to admire one of Peru’s most extraordinary natural wonders. The vibrant red, turquoise, yellow, green, and purple mineral layers create an unforgettable panorama that has made Vinicunca one of the country’s most visited destinations. Your guide will explain the geological formation of the mountain, its cultural significance, and the importance of preserving this unique environment.
