DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO LIMA

Arrival in the Jorge Chavez International Airport of Lima, reception by a Representative of our Travel Agency and transfer to the Hotel selected in Lima, known as “The City of Kings”.

DAY 2: CITY TOUR LIMA

• Breakfast at your hotel.
• Free morning.
• In the afternoon, pickup from your hotel between 14:00 hrs to 14:15 hrs.
• Lima City Tour in the afternoon (from 14:00 a.m to 18:00 hrs)
• Hotel stay in Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic City Tour of Lima. We continue towards Miraflores, where we will have a stop at Love Park for stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and enjoy a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana. We will also pass through the traditional El Olivar Park. Then, we head to the Historic Center of Lima for a panoramic visit of its main landmarks, including Plaza Mayor of Lima, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and Plaza San Martín, among other colonial buildings.

Finally, we visit the Convent of San Francisco, where you will enter its famous catacombs. Return to your hotel.

DAY 3: LIMA TO IQUITOS CRUISE – MARAÑON RIVER

• Breakfast at your hotel.
• Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
• Flight from Lima to Iquitos.
• Upon the arrival to Iquitos, we will board the Cruise.
• Overnight Cruise

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your scheduled transfer to the airport for your flight from Lima to Iquitos. Upon your arrival at the Iquitos airport, we will be waiting for you to start the adventure. We will t’oake a city tour of Iquitos, a colorful, dynamic city with a captivating past. In this tour you will be able to appreciate the most emblematic attractions of the city.

Then, we will transfer by private vehicle to the city of Nauta, the historic river port where we will embark. Upon arrival in Nauta (about two hours from Iquitos), we will board Amatista and our staff will accompany you to your cabin. All cabins are specially equipped for you to enjoy the most comfortable stay.

The ship will start sailing down the Marañón River, as the naturalist guides present the trip plan, the routes to follow and the scheduled activities, and the best thing: they will begin to introduce us to the wonderful world of Amazon wildlife. Pay attention to their advice and recommendations, and keep in mind that if you have any doubts or questions, our guides will always be more than happy to assist.

After this presentation, enjoy a welcome lunch, your first experience with the delights of regional cuisine. The menu offers several options, including a vegetarian alternative. If you have any particular requirement, please let our crew members know in advance, so that we can attend to it in a timely manner.

Before dinner, we will start a night boat excursion to the Nauta Caño area, in search of animals that can only be seen when the sun goes down: alligators, bats, frogs, tarantulas and other species that inhabit the Amazon basin.

After this first immersion in the jungle world, we will return to the ship and enjoy dinner and then you can rest and recover energies for the next day.

DAY 4: AMAZON CRUISES – PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE – AMAZONIC NATURAL PARK

In the morning, we will organize a fun picnic breakfast on the Yanayacu River in Pucate, one of the best protected and preserved areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This area is often visited by pink dolphins. After, we will take a ride in local canoes and live the experience of paddling in one of the most beautiful aquatic ecosystems in the world. Also, if you want, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river.

Back on the ship, we will have lunch in the dining room, followed by some time to rest, after which our guides will offer a talk about Amazonic philosophy.

Later, we will meet the shaman of the San Regis community, a wise woman from the native community who will share with us her knowledge about the rituals of her ancestors, medicinal plants, and the Amazon worldview. Our guides will be the interpreters in case you want to ask questions or make comments to the shaman. After this authentic experience of reflection and spiritual exploration, we will continue with the ceremony of planting a tree, as a contribution to caring for the environment.

Back on the boat, you can relax with live music while we wait for dinner. After eating, the guides will indicate the activities of the following day.

DAY 5: AMAZON CRUISES  – PACAYA NATIONAL RESERVE – SHIRIYACU

Early dawn in the Amazon has a special charm, it is the perfect moment to sight many animal and insect species. For this reason, on this morning, you also have a boat excursion scheduled before breakfast. This time the destination is Iquitos Brook, a privileged area for sighting numerous endemic species. Back on board, buffet breakfast will be served.

Afterwards, we head into the Amazon Natural Park, combining a guided rainforest walk with a canoe ride through its waterways, ideal for wildlife observation and discovering the vibrant life of the jungle.

Before noon, we will return to the ship for lunch on board and then we will have time to rest before the next departure.

Later, get ready for the boat expedition to the Shiriyacu stream. Our guides will find the perfect location for piranha fishing, using local equipment and techniques. This area is very popular for spotting pink dolphins.

Upon returning to the ship, we can relax even more with live music and comfort ourselves with the delicious dinner on board.

DAY 6: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO

• Last day on the cruise
• Pickup from your hotel to the airport to board your flight.
• Flight from Iquitos to Cusco
• Welcome and pick up from Cusco airport and transfer to your hotel.
• Hotel stay in Cusco

Early in the morning, we will leave by boat towards Gasparito Brook, a very popular area for bird and primate watching.

After breakfast, the bartender awaits us for a Peruvian cocktail demonstration, Pisco Sour, the emblematic drink of Peru. Then, we will disembark to head to Iquitos. On your way to the airport, visit Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as Manatees Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species. Learn how manatees are treated and prepared for their return to their natural habitat. Likewise, other animals are also rescued, treated and reinserted in their natural habitat. Transfer to the airport to board your flight from Iquitos to Cusco. Upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport.

Our staff will be waiting for you and welcoming you at Cusco airport to take you to your hotel in the city of Cusco. You will have a free day with no scheduled activities to allow you to acclimate to Cusco’s altitude, which is located at 3,350 meters (10,990 feet) above sea level. Additionally, all hotels offer coca tea to help with acclimatization. We recommend that you eat light meals, drink plenty of water, and get some rest on this first day.

DAY 7: CITY TOUR

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Afternoon city tour of Cusco (from 13:00 PM to 18:00 PM).
• Overnight at a hotel in Cusco.

Arrival in the City of Cusco, reception and transfer to the Hotel selected by a Representative of our Travel Agency. Hotel in Cusco.

Rest of the morning to acclimatize to the altitude of 3,350 meters above sea level. Approximately.

Pick up from the Hotel between 1:00 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., to begin the visit to the City and nearby Archaeological Centers: The Tour will show us the impressive Colonial City built on Inca bases; we will visit the Cathedral; of Renaissance structure and with fine paintings from the “Cuzco School”.

Qorikancha, or Temple of the Sun; known as the Royal House of the Sun in Cusco. We continue with the visit to the 4 Archaeological Centers: Sacsayhuaman; great fortress located 5 km from the city. Qenqo; sacred amphitheater, center of worship of the god Puma, place where human sacrifices were possible. Pucapucara; red fortress due to the hue that its rocks acquire with the light of twilight and Tambomachay; temple to worship water. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 8: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS – CUSCO

• Sacred Valley tour.
• One-way train journey from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, departing in the afternoon – Expedition Train Class.

Breakfast at the Hotel. Pick up from the hotel at 08:00 am to make our visit to the Sacred Valley.  We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, where we will the town of Chinchero, where you will be able to appreciate ancestral textile craftsmanship. Then we continue our tour and visit Moray, circular terraces that served to acclimatize plants in the Inca era and Maras, the captivating salt mines of Maras, a centuries-old site still in use today as a small-scale salt production facility. Wander through the labyrinth of salt pools, and let your guide enlighten you about the extraction process and the role salt plays in the local economy. Finally, we will continue our visit to the town of Ollantaytambo, a typical town that still maintains the Inca urban structure, with its typical Inca streets. After we finish the tour we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (Town of Machupicchu, 1 hour 40 minutes’ trip.     Overnight in Aguas Calientes

DAY 9: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

• Breakfast at the hotel
• Today, you will visit Machu Picchu accompanied by our guide.
• Bus ride to the citadel of Machu Picchu (30 minutes)
• Guided tour of Machu Picchu of approximately 2 to 3 hours.
• In the afternoon, return by train from Machu Picchu to Poroy, or Ollantaytambo train station – Expedition Train Class.

Breakfast at the Hotel.  Pick up from the Hotel, transfer to the bus station, we arrive to the to the Lost City of the Incas, “Machu Picchu” in around of 30 minutes, then you will enjoy a guided excursion through the main buildings of the citadel such as: El Mirador, Temple of the Three

Windows, El Intihuatana, The Main Plaza, etc. We will return to the town of Aguas Calientes. Lunch at a local restaurant by your own.

In the afternoon, we will take the Train to return to the Poroy or Ollantaytambo train Station where our staff we will waiting for you to take you back to your hotel in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 10: LAST DAY
